Race Update – OJ
Ipswich Kart Club – Round 3 Race Report
Saturday, the 2nd of May 2026
Building momentum ahead of the Australian Kart Championship’s return to her home track
With the Australian Kart Championship arriving at her home club in just two weeks, OJ used Round 3 of the IKC Championship as the perfect warm‑up — and she delivered a day full of strong pace, smart racecraft, and real progress.
Across the heats, OJ showed consistency and confidence, climbing through the field multiple times and putting herself in a strong position for the final.
Race Day Summary
Heat 1 — P23 → P15
A composed drive through heavy traffic, picking off eight positions and setting the tone early.
Heat 2 — P8 → P4
Sharp starts, clean overtakes, and front‑pack pace. One of her strongest drives of the day.
Heat 3 — P9 → P9
Solid, stable run with consistent lap times and no mistakes.
Final — Started P8
OJ launched brilliantly, gaining three positions on Lap 1 and moving into the fight for the top five.
But after a course, a yellow and single‑file restart, a small misjudgment led to contact with P5, pushing her wide onto the curb. The impact caused her chain to come off, ending her race with a DNF.
A tough way to finish — but the speed was absolutely there.
Takeaway
Despite the final‑race heartbreak, OJ showed exactly the kind of form she’ll need when the Australian Kart Championship hits Ipswich. Strong overtakes, confident starts, and genuine front‑running pace prove she’s ready for the big stage.
